A Planning Journal...

Another from this to that project...
Last year I had picked up several composition notebooks on sale and had wanted to make custom Disney journals for my kids, but never ended up using them. Recently the twins needed a few more for school, so I pulled them out and still had a few left. I have been looking at another persons very creative postings of items for their upcoming trip and was inspired to make that journal again.
This journal has the main purpose of being used to help PLAN our upcoming family trip in January 2012. I wanted to give them a book that was easy to use in helping to write down thought and ideas...as they are in "charge" this trip!
So from a basic beginning I came up w/ this:



I plan to have the kids pick out some stickers from my scrapping stock to add some more flourish to the front cover.
I added tabs on the side to flip to the various sections. I made these on the computer and printed on cardstock.



The inside pages I mostly made titles to tape on using the ever fun waltograph font and a few planning pages taped in:







As well for each park section, I created a collage of photos from the previous 4 family trips we have taken:









The book took me about 3-4 hrs to complete (that was interrupted time-wink). They like it and we have already used to help come up with a basic plan for our Disney's Hollywood Studios park day!

Evolution of a DIS-tag...

What is a DIS-tag? you may ask...a great forum of Disney fans who love to chat about their trips, planning, dining, resorts and other items that relate to Disney have come up with a special way to identify themselves and look for other DISers when they travel to the parks.

Lime Green has become the trademark color of the DIS, and your often read about DISers buying things in this color from shoes, shirts to bags and decorating their resort windows or creating their DIS tags with this color :)

I first found the DISboards in 2007 as I was preparing to plan our family's next WDW adventure the following summer...this is when I first learned about the tags and LGMH Lime Green Mickey Heads...ie lime green paint chips in the shape of a Mickey head from The Home Depot...

I was hoping to be spotted as I meandered down Main Street or stood in line while waiting to have fun on a ride, therefore I created my first DIS tag:

a basic version of the LGMH w/ my DIS name mouse scrapper and a few stickers

The following year I found an awesome digitally created version of the classic LGMH and made a new tag for my 2009 trip:

this was the trip when I was asked by a non DISer "what is a mouse crapper?" oh man was i quite embarrassed...that tag was hidden the rest of the trip, sadly...

I revamped the same tag with a space and caps for my DIS name for our 2010 trip:

Then my creativity began to soar as I received a cricut for my Birthday last yr and was preparing to go on a special DISer trip with 7 other ladies and made us custom tags that matched each other:

I then adopted my DIS nickname for my tag-Scrappie...

Recently I had a little contest on my Pre Trip Report on the DISboards and sent some prizes to the winners. I included for one of the winners a special DIS-tag creation:

This time I used a cut out circle shape of chip board some lighter Lime green papers and a party ribbon. She loved it!

The last DIS-tag in my evolution of DISign is the tag I just created for my special October trip with my husband, Matt and we do Halloween Disney style and celebrate our 15 yr Wedding anniversary...I made him a matching tag to mine just for the fun of it!

I used a combination of cricut cut Mickey heads, a custom DISign, and some Halloween stickers and ribbons to create a special tag that fits the reasons we are traveling to Disney this time...

from this to that...

I love taking an item and re-purposing it into a treasure like an empty canning jar into a Disney savings bank OR taking a plain cardboard spiral and creating a memory keepsake...

I think it is so fun to take an order item or even plain crafting items to design and create some fun, creative keepsakes. My latest trip into my scrapbook room I finished up some pages in my WDW 3 trip album:







This layout spread was all about me...my first solo trip to WDW w/out my family was full of childlike joy and so many wonderful memories made w/ the ladies I traveled with. Each of us had a special color that represented us as we write about our adventures on the DISboards...mine was obviously green! I had fun mixing and blending different greens and patterns for this layout.

My DIS name is Mouse Scrapper or Scrappie for short...and it was an adventure!











the last layout of the spread includes some of my favorite pictures and memories from the trip...like hanging out w/ my special bud Amy, drinking grey goose slushies w/ the ladies and so much more....
The final addition to the Spectrum Mom's part of this album was to add a 4 x 6 insert page. I included 6 pictures and the stories behind some of the funnier moments of our trip.








this type of page is a great addition to a scrapbook to add a new element and a quick easy way to add some more pictures!

Another one of my Disney timeline series...this book for my middle daughter Rachel and her favorite ride The Peoplemover...













I love these little books. They are so simple to make and create such a lasting memory as you can add a new picture in after each trip!

I now have 5 books total (with one more to create for my youngest daughter) they have been down in my scrapbook room and I wanted something to put them in to keep them together and allow people to look through them all. I found a cute little mesh basket in the dollar bins at Target (in lime green of course) added a tag made from cardboard and here you go:

Scrappin in July

It's been like Christmas in July in my Scrapbook room...finally the creative process is overflowing like presents under the tree! Before Summer even began I was hopeful to get lots done and had been saving up pictures to work on...but w/ busy schedules, some water issues in my basement scrapbook room...it just wasn't happening. However I finally carved out some time one afternoon this past week and have scrapped over a dozen pages since!

Starting with a fun Disney project (but of course)! After our November family trip in 2010 I knew I'd be busy w/ the Holidays and several small weekend getaways (including another MOM only trip to WDW) I wouldn't have time to scrap a large album for our trip's memories. I opted to create a special online book, but still wanted to scrap some of the new things and favorite pictures from that trip...that got me thinking to create a 3 in 1 trip album to include Nov., my Jan trip from this yr 2011 and then an upcoming trip in October. (depending how thick it seems I made add in a 4th trip for our Jan 2012 family trip too!)

I had already purchased a new Mickey album, papers and stickers and got started...the pictures I had printed worked out perfectly into 4 2-page layouts:

I will do a front page too, with 1 picture from each of the trips.

These next layouts are from November. The are pretty simple, but I think showcase the photos very nicely. I tried to include one special detail per layout as well. I like to add a fun element too to make the page more unique. Enjoy.

These next 2 layouts are from my Mom only trip with 6 other ladies that I met all on the Disboards, besides our great love for Disney and WDW we also each have a child(ren) on the Autism Spectrum. Fellow Mom Kathy brought us all together to share a great long weekend together at our "happy" place. This portion of the book is still in process.

This month is very dear to me as it's my Wedding Anniversary Month! In particular this year we celebrate 15 years. My husband and I have a very special trip planned later in October to spend 5 days at WDW and we just can't wait. 5 years ago for our 10th I created a special album to keep all our anniversaries in and special pictures of us and our family, plus 1 Christmas pictures from each yr as well. The album and most of the supplies were given to me as a gift several yrs back and I have tried to keep w/ an overall theme throughout each yr and photo spread to keep the book attractive and unique to my other scrapbook albums:

Finally for this momentous anniversary I made this special gift card/book for my husband. I wrote down several moments from when we first met to now that have shaped our 15 yrs + of being together. I printed pictures and images to capture each of these moments and created a special book using cardstock, ribbon, and simple embellishments. The Disney personalized images were made for me by Marion from the Disboards. Enjoy this special keepsake:
